How does this theme apply to your civilization?
1. Demography and Disease
As harvests were abundant, the poulations grew
Each dynasty had a larger population than the last as the lands expanded
2. Migration
Chinese society influences Asia beyond the zone of agriculture
Hunting and gathering societies were soon attracted to the abundant lifestayle
Ancestors of Turks and Mongols settled in the steppes, north and west of fields cultivated by Chinese, refusing to be a part of agriculture
As Chinese society spread south, southern China began to adopt their ways
3. Patterns of Settlement
Communities began near the two big rivers, Yellow R. and Yangzi R., because agriculture was possible
Harvests became more abundant near the Yangzi R.
Yellow R. society not as lucky because of the devastation caused by the flooding of the river
As each new dynasty came to be, the land bouderies began to expand further and further
4. Technology
When Yellow R. flooded, attempted to use a series of dikes and canals to prevent damage. For some months it was very succesful.
Success of the Shang dyansty was partly from bronze metallurgy
Zhou kings were unable to control bronze and iron metallurgy, and this brought about the fall of the empire (along with other events)
